Dr Ellice Dart became a doctor and then medical educator in the early decades of the 20th Century, a time when women in both fields were very rare in Australia.
As the first woman employed in 1936 by the University of Queensland’s fledgling Faculty of Medicine, she is being remembered in 2022 for her dedication to teaching and learning.

One particular field of interest and activity was blind literacy and in Brisbane, a Braille House publication has been named in Dr Dart’s honour.
