A Christmas story for everyone
For every 100 books a sighted child can access, children who are blind or have low vision can only access less than 5. Giving to Braille House means creating a Christmas story for everyone.
Vision is the most dominant of our senses, and it plays a critical role in every facet and stage of our lives.
It’s easy to take our vision for granted, but without it we struggle to meet so many of life’s milestones: learning to walk, learning to read, participating in school, or having a job.
We don’t want people who are blind or have low vision to miss out on any of the joy and fulfilment life brings.
Every donation is important and each donation over $2 is tax deductible.
Braille House supports these people by creating pathways to literacy and independence through:
- teaching braille with expert tutors
- producing braille books and other tactual reading materials
- providing transcription services.
- tactile mapping
Braille House is a charity that specialises in providing expert braille education and tactual reading materials to our community. Braille opens doors, enabling people who are blind or have low vision to achieve the fundamental building blocks of literacy: reading, writing, grammar and spelling.
Our charity began in 1897, and we’ve been changing lives for 125 years since. With your help, we can empower people who are blind or have low vision to live with dignity and independence.
This holiday season, we are asking people to donate to help provide library services to people all over Australia who are blind or have low vision.
There is no cost to the reader for our library service, Free to join, FREE to borrow, FREE to enjoy.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers and wish all of our supporters a happy and safe festive season.
